Good Housekeeping's best value: a cheap, best-selling built-in-pump bed whose 22-inch version feels like a real bed, and that GH staff use at home without overnight deflation. But it's the slowest to inflate and deflate in several tests, it resists folding up, and Amazon owners are split, with many saying it loses air during the night.

Top complaints

  • Loses air overnight for some owners

Amazon's summary says some owners report it constantly deflates, leaks and loses air during the night, while others say it stays inflated.

  • Slow to inflate, slower to deflate

Good Housekeeping found it the longest to deflate and warns that forcing it can damage the pump. Wirecutter's 22-inch took about five minutes to inflate and resisted being deflated and folded. CNN timed 4 minutes 10 seconds, the slowest, and it was the heaviest it tested at 21 pounds.

  • Durability is hit or miss

Amazon's summary says durability is mixed, with some saying it broke after one use.

What owners love

  • Held air for GH's own staff

Two Good Housekeeping experts use it at home; one said they didn't have to worry about it deflating overnight and the surface stays flat and firm.

  • Tall option feels like a real bed

The 22-inch version was the tallest in both Good Housekeeping's and CNN's tests, and testers said it doesn't feel like sleeping on the floor. CNN liked its edge bumpers.

  • Cheap, with high capacity

It costs far less than the premium picks but supports up to 600 lb per Intex (Good Housekeeping), and Wirecutter found it supportive.

Good for
  • A low-cost guest bed
  • A tall (22 in) bed on a budget
  • Occasional use
