Wirecutter's new budget pick (about $30): 40 sounds including lullabies, backlit touch buttons sorted into four categories, and a multicolor night-light in a fabric shell testers loved. Its white noise sounds rough, it needed more volume to mask loud noise, and it ships without a wall plug.

Top complaints

  • Rough white noise, middling masking

Wirecutter found its color noises rough and bumpy, more like static or heavy rain, and it needed higher volume than other picks to mask a jackhammer; speaker quality was middle of the pack.

  • Confusing power control; timer light stays on

There's a play/pause button but no power button, which confused one Wirecutter tester, and a small timer light can't be turned off.

  • No wall plug in the box

It uses a USB-C cord but doesn't come with a wall adapter, unlike most machines Wirecutter tested.
