This Amazon listing (the one Wirecutter links to) is titled TOB-260N1 with a nonstick interior, not the PFAS-free TOB-260N1NAS that Wirecutter now names.

Wirecutter's best large toaster oven, with the most even edge-to-edge toast it found, a pizza stone and a 3-year warranty. But Serious Eats burned toast in it, and low-star owners describe early failures and doors that don't close.

Top complaints

  • Early failures and quality control

Walmart's lowest-rated reviews (many syndicated from cuisinart.com) describe an 'ErL' error after 3 weeks, door glass shattering, doors that don't close properly, and units dying just after the warranty. Walmart's AI summary lists a loose door as a con, and Amazon's summary says some owners find it overpriced for its lifespan.

  • Toast results disputed

Serious Eats says it couldn't make a simple piece of toast without burning it. Wirecutter found it the most even toaster, but says the middle shade setting (4) runs a bit dark and recommends setting 3.

  • Single-dial controls and timer quirks

Wirecutter says one knob controlling time, temperature and toast shade isn't intuitive, the timer starts as soon as preheating ends, and there is no rack-position key on the door. Under warranty Cuisinart replaces the unit rather than repairing it.

What owners love

  • Even toasting edge to edge

Wirecutter says no other oven was as consistent from corner to corner, and it toasts up to nine slices at once.

  • Big, near-full-oven capability

It fits a 13-inch pizza, a whole chicken or 9x13 pans, and comes with two racks and a ceramic pizza stone. Wirecutter says the two-speed convection fan also air-fries well, just more slowly than the Breville Air Fryer Pro.

  • Fast preheat, quiet fan, 3-year warranty

Wirecutter measured preheating to 350°F in just over three to four minutes, found the fan very quiet on both settings, and notes the 3-year warranty is longer than most.

Good for
  • Big batches: 9 slices, a 13-inch pizza or a whole chicken
  • Occasional air frying without a separate appliance
  • A long warranty

What experts say

  • Wirecutter (NYT): Best large toaster oven (and runner-up air fryer toaster oven); the flaws are the single-dial controls, the timer behavior, and a dark middle toast setting.
  • Serious Eats: Rejected: it could not make a simple piece of toast without burning it.
  • Good Housekeeping: Tested in a recent round; the testers liked how easy its functions are to follow, which suits novice cooks.
