The budget pick at both Wirecutter and Tom's Guide: a small, solid 2K webcam with a built-in shutter, adjustable field of view and good mics for about $60-70. But it can only tilt, not swivel, and Wirecutter found its picture darker and its autofocus slower than the Brio 505's.

Top complaints

What owners love

  • Best picture under $70

Wirecutter says it has the best image quality of any webcam it tested under $70, and its 2K resolution is slightly sharper than the Brio 505's 1080p. Tom's Guide found crisp details and accurate colors.

  • Built-in shutter and flexible framing

Tom's Guide likes the integrated sliding shutter, tripod thread and 65/78/95-degree field of view. Wirecutter likes the bright red lens cover that's easy to see.

  • Clear mics and easy setup

In Tom's Guide's Zoom test, a friend said the voice came through crystal clear with less background noise than the laptop mic. Amazon owners praise the plug-and-play setup and clear video in Teams.

Good for
  • The best picture you can get for about $60-70
  • Dim home offices (Tom's Guide praises its low-light results)
  • Calls where a clear built-in mic matters

What experts say

  • Wirecutter (NYT): Budget pick (updated 2026-09-17). It's no match for the Brio 505's image, but still better than a 2023 MacBook Pro's built-in camera.
  • Tom's Guide: Best budget webcam (updated 2026-08-28). Its only listed con is no swivel.
