Wirecutter's best 4K monitor and RTINGS's upper mid-range work pick. It has a sharp 27-inch 4K IPS Black screen with about twice the contrast of most rivals, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a huge hub with 140W USB-C charging, Thunderbolt 4 and a KVM switch. The catches are a stand Wirecutter calls wobbly, mediocre reflection handling, and a high price.
Top complaints
- Wobbly stand
Wirecutter says Dell attached this monitor to a subpar stand: if you type forcefully, the screen bobs along with the desk, and it recommends a monitor arm. RTINGS, by contrast, rates its ergonomics as outstanding.
- Reflections in bright rooms
RTINGS lists mediocre reflection handling as its only con. It says the screen reflects more than the Asus ProArt 6K and that reflected light has a pink tint, so the cheaper Dell S2725QC may be better in a bright room.
- Setup and compatibility trouble for some owners
Amazon's summary says some owners find it tricky to configure and that compatibility gets mixed reviews, with some saying it fails badly. One 1-star review reports lines of bad pixels within a year. An RTINGS reader also found daisy-chaining limited at 4K 120Hz.
What owners love
- Contrast and sharpness a step above
Wirecutter measured 2,239:1 contrast, more than double most rivals, and found text sharp anywhere on the screen, with no blurriness on Macs. RTINGS calls its text and image clarity fantastic. Amazon owners say very small text stays clear.
- A complete desk hub
RTINGS and Wirecutter highlight 140W USB-C charging, Thunderbolt 4, a KVM switch, Ethernet, daisy-chaining and a large USB hub, including pop-out front ports. Amazon owners praise the built-in KVM.
- Strong dead-pixel warranty
Wirecutter says Dell's Premium Panel Exchange replaces the monitor for even one bright subpixel (or more than six dark ones) within three years, one of the best monitor warranties it has seen.
- Your desk shakes or you type hard (Wirecutter suggests a monitor arm)
- You work in a sunny room (reflections)
- You want HDR or gaming performance
- A single-cable desk hub for a laptop (140W charging, KVM, Ethernet)
- Sharp text and deep contrast for long workdays
- Switching between a work laptop and a home PC
