PCMag's best tracker for Android phones and Tile's longest-range, only replaceable-battery model. Neither PCMag nor Tom's Guide got close to the promised 500-foot range, it can't point you to the tag, and Wirecutter dropped it over Tile's unresolved security issues.
Subscription: Optional: Tile Premium ($2.99/mo or $29.99/yr) adds Smart Alerts for left-behind items and 30-day history; Premium Protect is $99/yr (PCMag)
Top complaints
- Range far short of the claim
Tom's Guide never got more than 120 feet away against a promised 500, and PCMag couldn't ring it until about 50 feet. PCMag also waited 30 minutes without a network update in a street test.
- No precise location or real-time tracking
PCMag lists location data that lacks exact details and no real-time information, and the app gives no direction to move. Amazon's summary says some owners find it doesn't work at all and it only works within Bluetooth range.
- Security concerns, paywalled alerts, either-or button
Wirecutter no longer recommends its former Android pick because of unresolved security issues. Smart Alerts need Premium, and you must choose between SOS and ring-your-phone on the button (Tom's Guide).
What owners love
- Replaceable battery and IP68
The only Tile with a user-replaceable CR2032 (about a year), still IP68, with a steel frame (PCMag, Tom's Guide). Amazon owners note the replaceable battery.
- Loud alarm
Tom's Guide could hear its 110 dB alarm from 80 feet in a park with a vacuum running nearby.

- PCMag: Best tracker for Android phones (3.5, Good; updated 2026-07-10). Cons: location data lacks exact details and there's no real-time information.
- Tom's Guide: Best range among Tiles, but the reviewer steers buyers to the cheaper Tile Mate since the Pro fell short of its promised range.
- Wirecutter (NYT): Former Android pick, no longer recommended because of unresolved security issues.
