A perennial Amazon best seller that Tom's Guide calls one of the best cheap beds: a soft, marshmallowy foam hug that absorbs motion, for $599 list (usually $499 or less) for a queen. But the edges are very weak, it can sleep warm, owners question its durability, and buying on Amazon means no trial. Wirecutter has dropped it as a pick.

Top complaints

  • Very weak edges

Tom's Guide scored edge support 2.5/5: a tester nearly slid off, and a 50 lb weight wouldn't balance closer than about eight inches from the edge. It says Amazon customers also find edge support lacking.

  • Firmness and back comfort are hit-or-miss

Amazon's summary says firmness gets mixed feedback (some say too firm) and back pain experiences are mixed. Tom's Guide found it too soft for most back and stomach sleepers. Wirecutter, which dropped it as a pick, preferred its newer foam picks in testing.

  • Sagging, warmth and smell

Tom's Guide says some customers noticed sagging after limited use, and it expects shorter life from a budget bed. Testers woke up warm (3/5) and noticed a strong paint-like smell that faded quickly. Amazon owners are split on odor.

What owners love

  • Plush pressure relief for side sleepers

Tom's Guide gave pressure relief 4/5 and compared it to a Tempur-Pedic-style hug; all its side-sleeping testers enjoyed it.

  • Excellent motion isolation

Tom's Guide gave motion isolation 4.5/5: a wine glass stayed upright in its drop tests.

  • Cheap and widely loved

Queen MSRP is $599 and it usually sells for $499 direct, often lower on Amazon (Tom's Guide). Amazon's summary says owners find it comfortable and well worth the price.

Good for
  • Side sleepers on a tight budget
  • Guest rooms
  • Couples who want little motion transfer

What experts say

  • Tom's Guide (Zinus review): Full review: one of the best cheap beds for side sleepers; motion 4.5, pressure relief 4, temperature 3, edge 2.5. The Siena is stronger at a similar price.
  • Wirecutter (best cheap mattresses): Former pick (updated 2026-06-23): nicer-feeling memory foam with a classic sink, but newer foam picks got more positive tester feedback.
