HGTV's best overall, praised for easy controls, quiet running and eight safety features. But Wirecutter dismissed it for surprisingly uneven heating, Amazon owners are split on whether it can handle more than a small room, and it has only a one-year warranty.

Top complaints

  • Uneven heating in Wirecutter's test

Wirecutter says this newer version of its oscillating Dreo pick produced some surprisingly uneven heating throughout the room, and it dehumidified the test space more than any other heater tested. HGTV, by contrast, found its heating powerful and even.

  • May only suit small rooms; weaker airflow on heat

Heating capacity and airflow are mixed aspects on Amazon: some owners say it handles large spaces, others say it is only good for small rooms, and some note the fan blows less air in heat mode. Value for money is also mixed.

  • Only a one-year warranty

HGTV's one complaint is the one-year warranty, which is shorter than most other heaters it tested.

What owners love

  • Easy controls and a great remote

HGTV found the control panel and remote easy to use without the manual; the remote control is an Amazon positive.

  • Eight safety features

HGTV lists V0 flame-retardant material, cool-touch housing, the FortPlug, thermally insulated wiring, a child lock, 45-degree tip-over protection and overheat protection.

  • Quick, quiet heat

HGTV says its quiet operation fades into the background; Amazon owners say it heats rooms quickly, and quiet operation is an Amazon positive.

What experts say

  • HGTV: Best overall (updated 2026-09-16): easy to use, powerful even heating and quiet, with a great remote; the only con is a one-year warranty.
  • Wirecutter (NYT): Dismissed: surprisingly uneven heating, and it dried out the test room more than any other heater. Wirecutter recommends the Dreo Solaris Slim H3 (DR-HSH003) instead.
