A compact, well-built and quiet desk that suits small rooms and taller people, but its paddle controller confuses many users, it stores only two presets, and it doesn't go low enough for some shorter people.

Top complaints

  • Confusing paddle controller, only 2 presets

Most Wirecutter panelists found the paddle's menu frustrating, and you can't go back if you overshoot a menu choice. WIRED says saving presets isn't intuitive. Both note there are only two height presets.

  • Minimum height of 28 in; anti-collision gap

Wirecutter says the 28-47.5 in range works best for people 5'8" to 6'5". Its anti-collision sensors won't engage for kids, pets or objects lower than 28 inches, and in testing the desk sank another fraction of an inch onto seated testers' thighs.

  • Fewer options for the money

Wirecutter notes there are only nine laminate finishes and no upgraded keypad. Amazon's review summary says some customers don't love the cost.

What owners love

  • Stable, smooth and quiet

Wirecutter testers found the two-tier column stable and smooth, and WIRED says the dual motors are very quiet. Amazon shoppers mention smooth operation and sturdy construction.

  • Compact sizes

It comes as small as 36 x 24 inches, the smallest desk Wirecutter recommends, with 48- and 58-inch versions too.

  • Solid laminate top and 10-year warranty

Testers liked the look and feel of the laminate. The desk has a 275 lb lift capacity and a 10-year warranty.

Good for
  • Small rooms (36-inch top available)
  • People about 5'8" to 6'5"
  • One-person desks
