Top complaints
Aventon Soltera 3
- One gear struggles on hills
Even in Turbo mode, WIRED's tester had to put out over 400 watts himself to climb a steep grade; WIRED recommends it mainly for flat-ish areas. Tom's Guide found the earlier Soltera.2 underpowered next to the Ride1Up Roadster V3.
- Small display buttons
The control buttons are small and easy to mis-press, and almost impossible to use with thick winter gloves (WIRED).
- Brakes add maintenance
WIRED notes the hydraulic brakes need bleeding roughly every year, which undercuts the low-maintenance belt drive.

Lectric XP4 Folding Ebike
- Heavy for a folding bike
WIRED's XP4 750 weighed about 62 lb (53 lb without the battery) and needs help to lift into a car. Electric Bike Review weighed its XP4 at 70.1 lb and lists 'heavy for a folder' as a con.
- Flimsy kickstand and narrow handlebars
WIRED says the one-sided kickstand is an afterthought that fights gravity on slopes and the handlebars are narrow for big riders; the suspension seat post felt like it was slipping.
- Weak on steep climbs, basic suspension
Electric Bike Review says steep climbs slow it to a crawl, the fork is underdamped on rough ground, the battery meter moves in 10% steps, and the paint scuffs where the frame touches when folded.
