Top complaints
Ride1Up Roadster V3
- Battery drains fast at high assist
Tom's Guide's battery fell to 80% after five miles at the highest assist level (its budget guide describes this as an 80% drain). The battery is 360 Wh (Electric Bike Review).
- Not made for cargo
Tom's Guide's main con: not ideal for carrying cargo or large loads; a rack and panniers are sold separately. Electric Bike Review notes few mounting points.
- Fiddly battery removal
Electric Bike Review says removing the battery can chip the paint and the release lever isn't intuitive; the single-speed version suits flatter areas.
Lectric XP4 Folding Ebike
- Heavy for a folding bike
WIRED's XP4 750 weighed about 62 lb (53 lb without the battery) and needs help to lift into a car. Electric Bike Review weighed its XP4 at 70.1 lb and lists 'heavy for a folder' as a con.
- Flimsy kickstand and narrow handlebars
WIRED says the one-sided kickstand is an afterthought that fights gravity on slopes and the handlebars are narrow for big riders; the suspension seat post felt like it was slipping.
- Weak on steep climbs, basic suspension
Electric Bike Review says steep climbs slow it to a crawl, the fork is underdamped on rough ground, the battery meter moves in 10% steps, and the paint scuffs where the frame touches when folded.
