(checked 2026-10-10)
Very small sample: only about 65 ratings (1-star 18%, 2-star 7%).

Experts split: Serious Eats calls it the best indoor oven (810°F in 21 minutes), while Wirecutter found its top element struggled to brown and still prefers the Breville. About a quarter of its few Amazon ratings are 1-2 stars, many citing stones that cracked early.

Top complaints

  • Stones cracking

Amazon's review summary flags durability, with multiple customers reporting the pizza stone cracked or broke during first use.

  • Weak top browning; boost resets each pie

Wirecutter found the stone got unnecessarily hot while the top element struggled to brown. Its boost mode must be reactivated after every pizza and only works in the Neapolitan setting.

  • Fussy touchscreen, loud, slow to cool

Serious Eats' reviewer found the touchscreen hard to use with doughy fingers, the preset icons unintuitive, the oven somewhat loud, and a cool-down of at least 45 minutes before storing.

What owners love

  • Very hot for an indoor oven

Serious Eats measured 810°F in 21 minutes and 2-minute Neapolitan pies with leopard spotting; its separate reviewer called the heat-up on par with outdoor ovens.

  • Exterior stays fairly cool

Serious Eats says the shell stayed only warm even after hours of use.

  • Great pan pizza and naan

Detroit-style pizza had crisp, frico-like edges and naan puffed with char, helped by an auto-adjust that kept the pan pie from burning.

Good for
  • Neapolitan-style heat indoors
  • Pizza plus flatbreads and pan pizza
  • Pizza fans who want a large viewing window

Scores (tap for why)

  • Pizza results4.0
Why 4.0?Leopard-spotted, pillowy pies at Serious Eats; Wirecutter says the top element struggles to brown.
  • Heat-up & recovery4.0
Why 4.0?810°F in 21 minutes (Serious Eats); Amazon owners give heat retention mixed reviews.
  • Ease of use (turning, learning curve)3.0
Why 3.0?The touchscreen and presets were fiddly (Serious Eats), and the boost must be reactivated every pie (Wirecutter). Pies still need turning.
  • Size & portability3.0
Why 3.0?38.8 lb and 21.5 x 17.4 inches. Serious Eats' guide calls it heavy and huge, while its reviewer found it toaster-oven sized and light enough to move.
  • Build & durability2.5
Why 2.5?Amazon owners report stones cracking on first use; the standard warranty is 1 year (3 years if registered, per Ooni).

What experts say

  • Serious Eats (indoor ovens): Best indoor pizza oven (updated Apr 2026): hottest in its tests with beautiful pies, but wicked expensive, heavy and huge.
  • Wirecutter (NYT): Not a pick: like the first Volt, it fell short on top browning, and its boost mode is clunky; the Breville Pizzaiolo remains its indoor favorite.
