Top complaints
Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max
- Short filter life
Wirecutter says filters last 6-9 months instead of the typical year. Blueair lists the Particle & Carbon filter at $69.99 and up to 9 months of life.
Source: Wirecutter, Blueair official product page - Stops working after a few months
Amazon's review summary says reliability is concerning, with multiple customers reporting it stopped working after three months. It has a higher Amazon 1-2 star share (10%) than the Coway and Levoit picks.
- Fabric cover gets shaggy and loses stretch
In Wirecutter's long-term testing the washable fabric prefilter collected hair and dust and lost its elasticity after a few washes, so it needed replacing.

Coway Airmega Mighty
- Loud on high
HouseFresh measured 60.1 dB at top speed and says it is louder than many tested models. TechGearLab scored noise 5.6/10, citing about 55 dB and vibration on high.
Source: HouseFresh review, TechGearLab - Weak odor filter
HouseFresh and TechGearLab both say its carbon is impregnated fabric, which is less effective than pelleted carbon. Amazon's review summary calls odor removal mixed, with some owners complaining of a bad smell.
- Power-hungry, bright light, frequent filter swaps
Wirecutter measured 68.7 W on high and HouseFresh 75.3 W. Some Amazon owners find the blue air-quality light too bright for sleep. TechGearLab notes carbon changes every 6 months and HEPA every 12.
