Top complaints

Uplift V3 Standing Desk

  • Price climbs and it's heavy

TechRadar lists 'pricy' and 'heavy, especially the larger models' as its cons. The desk starts at $599, and Wirecutter's 60-inch bamboo configuration comes to about $890.

  • Slight front-to-back wobble when tall

Wirecutter found the V3 slightly more wobbly front to back than its other picks, especially at 40 inches and above, and less stable at its highest settings than the Vari. It calls the difference small and the desk stable enough for normal work.

  • Bamboo tops have cracked

In early 2022 a few Wirecutter readers reported cracked bamboo desktops. Uplift told Wirecutter that cracks, including hairline cracks, are covered by the 15-year warranty. Wirecutter also notes a high-pitched whistle when the desk moves.

Vari Electric Standing Desk with ComfortEdge

  • Low 220 lb weight limit

TechRadar lists the 220 lb limit as a con; WIRED also lists a 220 lb operational load. Uplift's V3 is rated for 355 lb.

  • Expensive for the size; extras cost more

TechRadar calls it 'a bit expensive for the size'. WIRED notes drawers are a paid add-on, and Wirecutter says the ComfortEdge costs significantly more than its picks.

  • Heavy

Amazon's review summary says customers disagree on the desk's weight; WIRED lists the 48 x 30 at 110 lb.
