Top complaints

Layla Kapok Pillow

  • Not a cooling pillow

Tom's Guide found it sleeps neutral but woke up hot and stuffy one warm morning, and recommends a dedicated cooling pillow for hot sleepers.

  • Firmer than some expect, and needs tuning

Tom's Guide's tester found it too firm at first and removed about a quarter of the fill; stomach sleepers have to remove much more. (Good Housekeeping instead describes it as medium-soft.)

  • Gray cover shows through; inner fill spot-clean only

Good Housekeeping notes the gray cover can show through white pillowcases. Tom's Guide says the cover is washable but the inner fill is spot-clean only.

Purple Harmony Pillow

  • Cooling doesn't work for everyone

Tom's Guide's reviewer slept warm most nights and often woke with a sweaty head and neck. Some Purple customers say they flip it to find a cool spot. Good Housekeeping's hot-sleeper testers, by contrast, all said it slept cooler.

  • Shape and durability are mixed

Amazon's summary says some owners find it goes flat or breaks down over time, while others say it holds its shape.

  • Expensive, short trial, and a snag-prone cover

List price is $209-$249 (Tom's Guide), the trial dropped from 100 to 30 nights, and the warranty is one year. Tom's Guide found pulls in the mesh cover.

  • Wrong loft can cause neck pain

Tom's Guide says neck-pain complaints in customer reviews are often tied to choosing a pillow too high or too low.
